Dance for a Cure, which is planned by the THON committee of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Alumni Society, is an evening fundraiser event featuring dance lessons of different styles each hour such as East Coast Swing, Country Line, Salsa, Hip Hop, and Soul. Plus, attendees enjoy a catered food buffet, door prizes, and silent auction items.
The event, which is held at the MiXx Nightclub in Allentown attached to the Rose Bowl, includes something for everyone. Bowling is included in the ticket price for those who don’t want to dance. About 130 people come out for Dance for a Cure which has raised $12,100 benefiting the Four Diamonds Fund, crediting the Penn State Lehigh Valley campus.
The Penn State Lehigh Valley Alumni Society won two awards for its unique fundraiser benefiting the fight against pediatric cancer.
The Society won the Penn State Alumni Association’s Best New or Innovative Event Award in 2014 and, in 2015, won the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group’s Fundraiser of the Year Award.
